So this past Saturday’s guitar lesson went really well. It was actually the first one in a couple of weeks. We had to skip two lessons due to schedulng and being busy.
This week we tried to cover some basic techniques, like hammer-ons and pull-offs. This was attempted because the last song we went over and taught my young student was the main line for the White Stripes son “7 Nation Army”.
This week we went over the main intro riff of the Metallica song “Seek and Destroy”. Luckily it was yet another song she was familiar with. We broke the one short riff down into even smaller sections, then we practiced each section before moving on to the next few notes. Watching her get the idea down more and more each time was awesome. Her fingers were starting to flow better and better and I could see the excitement build up in her. By the end of the lesson, she was playing the riff that starts off the song.
That was pretty gratifying. I felt like I was really able to hand down something I learned to a newer generation of musician.
If anyone wants guitar lessons, let me know!! lol
