Upcoming “Gig” on 11/6/2010

So my band and I have this “gig” coming on this Saturday. I’m really not looking forward to it, at all. Let me lay it down for you guys.

First of all, we have hardly been practicing at all this month. It’s just been a busy month for all of us. I’ve been having parties to go to, I had the gig cameo with my Dad’s band, some of us have had to work, and one of us (the bass player) just haven’t been showing up to practice. So needless to say, we’re kind of not hitting all the notes. Plus, we have a new singer who seems like he’s new to all of this music, because he’s had to learn ALL the songs we play. Plus, me personally, I guess I’ve been a little uninspired lately, because I haven’t been practicing as much as I should be…I guess life has just been really busy in general. A lot of personal BS going on. It’s important to practice…oh so important.

The next reason, is that I don’t feel that the singer we’re jamming with is really ready for a gig, neither is the other guitar player. He’s so full of himself, with nothing to back it. It’s sad, really. As a guitar player, I know where my weaknesses are. How can I get better if I don’t know where they are?

The last reason…this is a “private party” for a friend of the other guys’ (guitarist, drummer and bassist). It’s dude’s birthday party. We’re not getting paid. There will be probably like 3 people listening to us. How do I know this? Dude is pretty much only inviting family, and they’re all Mexican. Nothing wrong with that, it’s just that Mexican’s in particular, tend to not listen to Metal or Hard Rock even. They’ll be asking us to play some chunty Ranchero or Norteño music, maybe even Mariachi. At least I can tolerate Mariachi a bit more. The other two types are horrible!! HORRIBLE!!!!

Well folks, I’ll write more later. I’m sure this gig will provide a great “Musical Misadventure” to write about.

Later.
